What is a zine?

A zine is a collection of fanart and fanfiction for a specific media, which is formatted into a pdf or book and shared online or sold for a limited time.

How old do I have to be to apply?

Prospective contributors must be 18 by the day applications close, July 12. Prospective mods must be 18 by the day applications close, May 31.

What is this zine's rating?

This zine will be fully SFW.

Will this project be physical or digital?

This is to be determined by the interest check. We are aiming for physical, though!

Will this project be for profit for profit or charity?

This is to be determined by the interest check.

How will contributors be compensated?

Contributors (and mods) are guaranteed a full digital bundle. If we go physical, they will be able to order items at production cost, plus shipping. We aim to cover some or all of this cost though, depending on our sales.

How can I contribute?

We will be looking for a cover artist, page artists, merch artists, writers, and spot artists. We may also offer positions for other mediums, such as music and cosplay, to be determined by the interest check.We are also looking for a writing mod, a finance/production mod, and a shipping mod.

What are contributors expected to make?

Page Artist: Will create an original illustration for the zine.
Writer: Will create an original fic for the zine, within a given word count.
Spot Artist: Will create small illustrations to accompany a writer's work
Merch Artist: Will design 2-3 physical and/or digital merch items. The zine will handle any production required.
Other contributor roles TBD

Can I apply to more than one role?

Yes, you may apply for as many roles as you would like. However, you will only be accepted for one.

How many contributors will be accepted?

Final numbers will be determined by the interest check, but right now we are aiming for 30 page artists, 5-7 merch artists, 5 writers and an equal number of spot artists.


Application Guidelines

All Positions

  • Must be at least 18 years old by the time applications close.

  • Contributors must have or make a Discord account. All communication will be through Discord.

  • No part of your application (and contribution to the project) should be AI or plagiarized.

  • All documents included in applications should be viewable without any kind of account. To check, open your links in an incognito tab.

Moderators

  • Prior experience not required for: Writing Mod,

  • Prior experience required for: Finance Mod, Shipping Mod

  • Experience does not need to be in zines, but relevant to the position. More details will be included in the application form.

  • Portfolios/examples of previous work will be required for all positions. Writing Mod applicants should follow the guidelines below; The requirements for the rest of the positions will be detailed in the application form.

Page Artists

  • Must have a portfolio with 5 to 10 illustrations.

  • Portfolio must include at least 2 works with backgrounds, and should generally be of the quality you wish to make for the project.

  • LWA or Diakko examples are not required, but appreciated.

Page Artists

  • Must have a portfolio with 5 to 10 merch designs.

  • Examples of the type of merch you wish to make for the zine are heavily encouraged.

  • Pictures of physical merch items are not required, but appreciated if you have them. Mockups are perfectly acceptable.

  • LWA or Diakko examples are not required, but appreciated.

Writers

  • Must have a portfolio with 3 to 5 fics.

  • All fics in portfolio should be between 1,000 and 5,000 words, and should generally be of the quality/writing type you wish to make for the project.

  • Portfolio must include at least 1 finished fic.

  • LWA or Diakko examples are not required, but appreciated.
